Fall Update & a Clydesdale

It’s been a while since my last blog post, if your new here, I’m Reese! You can read more about me here. Over the last two years, I have been training my two Haflingers, Rosemary & Jasmine, to drive. It’s been quite the learning experience and a roller coaster ride of ups and downs working toward the horses pulling a carriage for weddings at my family’s wedding venue, Pine Meadows Venue. Rosemary & Jasmine have come so far, but they are not quite ready to pull the carriage for weddings. That being said we have events this fall that want carriage rides, so we began looking for an experienced driving horse. That search lead us to Good Shepard Ranch near Branson Missouri.

I was able to visit Good Shepard Ranch and test drive four different horses, three were Clydesdales and one was an all black Percheron named Dozer. It was so cool to drive these huge, gentle horses. I learned so much about driving and driving tack.

Meet Yukon

We ended up purchasing Yukon, a 16.1 hh, four year old Clydesdale. Even though she is still young, she is an experienced driving horse and is also very good under saddle. She is sweet, friendly, and also huge compared to the Haflingers I’m used too! My little sisters, especially my two year old sister Indie, love her! I am looking forward to working with Yukon on the upcoming weddings and events and building a relationship with my new horse. I will still be working with Rosemary & Jasmine continuing to build their confidence as a driving team.

It’s Fall Ya’ll

Fall is officially here. The temperatures in Missouri are decreasing and the sky seems more blue & cloudless. Before long the leaves will start changing color. I love fall, and I love fall weather! I always plan on taking full advantage of the fall weather when it comes to doing stuff with my horses. Check out these fall-themed posts and comment below what your equestrian fall plans are this year? I would love to hear all about your adventures this fall!
